But Jesus called them to him and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
(Matthew 20:25-28 ESV)
The one great need in the Mongolian Church today is for trained servant leadership. CAMA Mongolia is seeking to meet this need through the development of multi-level, contextual and inclusive training program. This project is being spearheaded by Dr. Pieter Theron. Pieter and his wife Hanaki are living in Darhan, Mongolia and have started the work on this monumental task.
The vision is clear. We to develop an innovative, excellent theological training and leadership development program that is contextual, sustainable and missional. Training which will develop Christ-like, servant, missional, and spiritual leaders who will play key roles in helping local churches and communities experience real transformation. We want to see leaders who are Christian professionals, business people, and workers in the marketplace, witnesses to Christ and God’s kingdom because of their Changed lives, leadership and integrity. We want to see churches filled with lay leaders who are leading and ministering to others in their cell groups, churches and faith communities, as well as full-time church workers, pastors, missionaries.
This kind of trained leadership does not exist in our churches.
Will you partner with us for the sake Monoglia’s future leaders?
We are seeking individuals, churches and districts who are willing to partner with us for the sake of raising up a generation of leaders in Mongolia. You may partner with us in the follwoing projects:
We are in the process of developing a training program that is contextual, innovative, and sustainable within the Mongolian context, and serve the needs of the local churches and church leaders.
Our goals are to develop spiritual leaders who are women and men of the Word, rooted in the Word, who have passion for God, and are becoming true, Christ-like servant leaders. They are also missional and transformational leaders with compassion for the world. They are passionate about making disciples of all peoples, societies, and nations, and enabling church multiplying movements that will engage the world and have a transformational effect on their societies.
Our educational and learning strategies aim to integrate theology and spirituality, integrate and facilitate academic excellence and professional ministriy skills, and to facilitate action and experiential learning within ministry practice and communities of faith.
The program will officially start and be launched in September 2009. However, we have already begun with training. We started with test or pilot program last year to see how our new approach will work. We are currently working out some of the glitches and problems we have experienced. This March we will continue with more learning circles (as we call our groups of students learning together in communities) to see how thing go and to improve the program further. In addition to this we have been conducted monthly 2-day workshops and training for all our church leaders.
How Can You Partner with Us?
1. Partners who are interested and have experience in education and developing training programs are welcome to participate in this project by interacting with us. We welcome your advice, input and expertise.
Library and Media Development
An effective and quality training program requires quality, relevant and recent library resources. In order to develop this program the following resources are needed:
• Books and printed literature, especially in Mongolian although some key books in English and Korean are also needed.
• Subscriptions to some key journals
• Relevant multi-media resources like video-materials, DVD’s, audio and other CD’s that can be used in teaching, learning, and research.
• Two portable LCD projectors to facilitate training and learning experiences.
• Computers, printers and networking equipment are needed to develop a Local Area Network to facilitate effective administrative, academic and financial management. An immediate need is for at least 2-3 computers with printers or 1 to 2 central network printers.
• 2-3 computers for library administration and management, and for library research by students and staff.
How Can You Partner with Us?
1. Partners can contribute funds to the library resource development and designate these as such.
2. Short term teams are welcomed who can assist with the following:
• Once the IT equipment has been obtained we will need the help of skilled and experienced IT people to install and setup the local area network for us and also to provide the necessary training for the center personnel to use and maintain the system effectively.
• The library has no catalog and index of its resources. Everything needs to be cataloged and indexed to provide and effective service to students and staff. We need a good library software that is able to work with different languages (Korean, Mongolian, English, Russian) and fonts. Advice and expertise is needed in this area. We could use a team to help with this project.
Facilities Improvement
We have just completed major repairs at the training center to prepare the facilities for use. In addition to the training program, the C&MA Missionary Kids School is also situated at the training center. We still need to do the following:
Indoors
We need to acquire appropriate desks/ tables for the classrooms, and also some whiteboards.
Outdoors
CLTC has a backyard that we have just begun to develop. We want to lay this area with bricks or cement, build gazebos for small groups and relaxation, plant trees, develop a garden, and repair the old basket ball court. We want to create an environment that is conducive and enjoyable for recreation, fellowship and serve also as a playground for the MK School students.
If you would like to partner in this area, you may do so by donating funds and/or participating in a short term trip to do this work.
How will a partnership with us benefit your church?
We want to give your church an opportunity to experience C&MA missions first hand. Partnerships will give your church an opportunity to relate to a field in a way that is relational, hands-on, and authentic. We want do all that we can to facilitate this. Pieter and Hanaki Theron are willing to look at ways they can do creative home-assignment in order to better serve their partner churches. It is our hope that as vision for Christ’s world-wide Kingdom becomes clear in your church, local outreach and commitment to His global purposes will make your church stronger and richer in Him. Let us know how we can pray for you, and for your fellowship.
