Erdenet is the second largest city in Mongolia. It is home to the largest desposit of copper in Aisia and the second largest copper mine in the world. Erdenet is a planned community, developed by the Soviets in 1975. Today, with a population of over 83,000 people, Erdenet flourishes. The copper mine still functions and is the source of a large portion of Mongolia’s hard currency income, and a major source of employment for the city’s citizens.

In 2006, with the help of a short term team, Peter and Esther Yim planted a C&MA church in this strategic center. Today this new church flourishes. When the Yims returned from Home Assignment in 2008, they moved to Erdenet and began the work of establishing community development projects, along with training and nurturing this new group of Believers. They are also beginning a new work in the nearby community of Jargalant.
