The clinic was held in a local believer home in Zung Turuu, a suburb of Bulgan. We saw 41 patients from 10 am-5 pm. The patients were prayed for during their clinic visit and the Gospel was shared by Baskaa to those who never heard of it. Praise the Lord, 10 patients prayed to received Christ during our clinic. Please pray for the follow up work with the formation of a cell group in that believer’s home.

My People perish Without a Khan: Psalm 72 Remix

My people perish for lack of a khan…

In a land of democracy and hardship, competition is fierce and oppression is rampant. All of our “freedoms” are killing my people – a humble family paying 560% per month for a $5 loan, a young man harassed by the police and afraid of taking it to court, children learning English from rap music, unemployed men who turn to drinking, employed men who drink as soon as they are paid, foreign companies who mine our country’s resources or delay on paying salaries, families who have not saved a single cent for the long winter, a prime minister who resigns suspiciously, neighbors who build higher and thicker fences, a handicapped boy who stays home and plays video games instead of going to school, crumbling roads and a faltering river system, officials who are convinced their people are poor and helpless, families who never turn off their TVs, two neighbors who have had their electricity cut off, other neighbors who can’t pay $1.50 to paint their own fence, people who pay back loans in order to get bigger loans, the gradual loss of cultural skills and pride, young people having children before marriage, plastic bags like tumbleweed across the steppe, increasing thieves who take whatever is not locked up, coal sellers who cheat their customers with rocks, drunk men fighting or laying in the street, couples threatening separation, toddlers with rotting teeth, citizens with no hope, no ideas, and no unity whatsoever…

If only the Father of Heaven would send us another khan – one who would rule with a rod of iron and whose empire would never crumble, one who would bring justice to the afflicted and light to the stumbling, one who would cause the righteous to flourish and the land to abound with good things, one who would restore glory and respect for his people among the nations, one who would have mercy on the weak and rescue them from enemies, one whose name would endure and all would call him blessed by God… full of wisdom and authority and power… forever.

Oh, if such a khan existed my people could hope once more. We wait, in desperation and tears, for Your anointed O God! We cry out for Your chosen to teach us fear and obedience, that we might be free from the plagues of our own freedom! How long must we suffer for lack of order and community?! There is no one to help, there is no one endowed with holiness and authority to lead us. Answer our prayer and send us Your khan, with signs and wonders, that all the nations might see and be glad this Christmas…

Psalm 72 (plus 100s of years of history, both from ancient Israel as well as Mongolia here and now).

<a href="http://www.fieldsoftheharvest.blogspot.com/"target="_blank">Jeremy Fields is working with his family in Darhan, Mongolia. The Fields family will be moving to Hovd in western Mongolia sometime in 2010 to begin community organization work in preparation for the Coming King.

We hosted a vision team from America this week who have keen interest in seeing a community center in Ulaanbaatar.

Last week CAMA Mongolia had the privilege of hosting a vision team from the US. We spent a lot of time talking about Community Centers and how we can see Gospel impact on the capital city of Mongolia. It was a blessing to show this team the work that is taking place in Mongolia and to connect with them about the future. Partnership is the way to accomplish the work we are called to do here. Because of this team’s visit and support (along with many others who have donated and prayed), CAMA Mongolia may soon have a community center in Ulaanbaatar, serving the needs of the city.

Thanks to all of you for your interest and support!

Here is the latest regarding Pieter Theron’s accident. Please continue to pray for this situation and check back for updates:

Dear Teammates,
Thank you David R. for getting the email out to the field so quickly.
Please continue to pray for Richard and Peter. Peter Theron and his
wife, Haniki, are the field director couple for Mongolia. They are
originally from South Africa and have 2 college age daughters in that
country.

Let me update you as of 8:15 PM as some of us are back at the AGH.

The RLT group was on their one free afternoon outing to an elephant
and crocodile zoo and show place near the Rose Gardens. We all went
to the crocodile show and then after walking around we all went to the
elephant show that started at 3 PM. Everyone was sitting in
grandstands as the elephants performed in a field in front of us.
They did many things including re-enacting an ancient war when they
would have used elephants. At the end of the show, the park brought
out bananas for the exiting audience to feed to the elephants and
about 10 elephants lined up at the fence and people could feed the
elephants and take pictures in front of them. After most of the crowd
had fed the elephants and were beginning to leave, some of us from the
RLT started to feed the elephants and take pictures. Richard and
Peter were getting their picture in front of one of the biggest
elephants and all of a sudden the elephant with his trunk threw them
both about 10 feet up into the air. Richard landed on the cement with
his shoulder and Pieter on his head. It was very serious. A number
of us started administering first aid and praying and praying and
praying. There wasn’t even a first aid box in the entire park so we
used our shirts and other cloths we could find for compresses and
pillows and kept the 2 men immobile. Both were conscious. Some
Filipinoes who were Christians and perhaps others from other countries
who had been there stayed and prayed at a distance. It took about 30
minutes for the first of two ambulances to come which seemed like an
eternity. Two or three from the RLT group went with the ambulances to
the hospital.

The two men are currently in a hospital outside the city and will be
transferred at 10 PM tonight to Vitchayut as the traffic is too bad now.

Word from the people at the hospital is that Richard is stable and has
a fractured hip. Peter is in ICU and has a fractured skull, and
bleeding internally near the brain. He may also have two fractured
shoulders. The hospital is working on getting a neurosurgeon to the
hospital to assess the situation so that Vitchayut will be ready to
receive him. The latest news which is good, is that Peter’s vital
signs are stable and the internal bleeding is minimal.

Please pray for God’s healing touch in the lives of these two men.
Pray especially for Peter, that God would stop the internal bleeding
and that he would be able to receive the help he needs in the shortest
amount of time. Pray for his wife, Haniki, as she is at the hospital
with him and several others. Dr. Benedict in Colorado has been
notified of the situation.

The first 2 days went well and there were good sessions together. The
theme of today’s devotion was that God is good. We are all shocked
with the current situation and can’t believe what happened in front of
our eyes. Pray for physical and emotional healing for all involved.
Pray that God’s name would be glorified and may we claim together the
promise that in all things God works for the good of those who love him.

Update: Thursday 11/5
We just received a phone call from Dennis Whalen. The information is about the same as what we received from Haniki. Between these two emails it should clear up the misinformation floating around out there.

* Pieter’s condition is listed as stable.
* His injuries consist of a fractured skull, two broken shoulders and a broken wrist.
* Haniki was able to go to the Guest House and rest and do some correspondence.
* It is a very serious injury with a lot of blood loss but according to Dennis who was by his side within seconds, Pieter never lost consciousness and was able to talk. He has been talking to people in the room all along.
* At the time of the call they were waiting for the doctor’s visit. After that they will have a better idea of what this means for a long term prognosis for both Pieter and Richard.
* There is a partner care team coming to minister to those who were there as it was a traumatizing thing to witness. There is a possibility that the conference will be cancelled.
* Dennis and the others are still coming here this weekend and we need to prepare and plan for that. We’ll be in touch with more information regarding that as soon as we have it.
* In a follow-up email from Haniki, please pray regarding their visa situation. They were supposed to be renewed upon their arrival back in Mongolia.
Dennis is supposed to call again as soon as he hears from the doctors. We will keep you updated.

UPDATE
Pieter had surgery on his fractured vertebrae. According to the doctor, all went well. Two disks in his neck were replaced and vertebrae 5, 6, and 7 were infused. There was no damage to the spinal cord and the doctor is pleased with how the surgery went. He is expected to be in a neck brace starting today, which allow him to sit up and to begin walking. We are all thankful to God for His grace. Hanaki says,

“Thanks for your prayers. It carries us through this amazing time where we keep experiencing God’s hand in everything.”

………………………

Here is the latest from Hanaki:

He improves so much every day. Bed
body washes are something of the past, only showers now. He ate
breakfast this morning at the table, all by himself. (It took much
longer, but it was good exercise for his arms). He’s actually wearing
pajamas now, not the long “dress” any more. He went out in the garden
yesterday – ok, it was in a wheelchair, but he was glad to get some
fresh air.

His neck is still stiff, he still gets cramps in his shoulders and
arms, but it comes and goes. He is sitting up a lot more, and checked
e-mails yesterday. Not typing yet. His left is doing really well.

We have not had the opportunity to ask the doctor when he will be
discharged, will wait a little longer. Will just take it slow and
wait for them to tell us.

Thank you again for your prayers, letters and support. God is good,
we experience it every second of the day.

Our partners from Evanston, WY provide computer labs for students in Darhan and Ulaanbaatar

Partnership with our friends in America is a high value for CAMA Mongolia. There are many examples of how folks can partner with us here. Jim and Denise Manchester and the Evanston Alliance Church (EAC) in Evanston, WY are just one more example to add to the list.

Last week Jim and Denise arrived in UB from half a world away. Prior to their coming the EAC had already raised several thousand dollars for the Manchester’s trip, as well as several computers for both the Grain of Wheat Student Center, as well as the youth center that we have in Darhan. After they arrived, Jim and Denise surprised us with yet one more computer, completing what we need for the computer lab in UB. They spent the week installing a network system in the city, as well as in Darhan. They also worked closely with our Darhan staff in the area or organization and administration. So not only did EAC raise the funds necessary for the trip and the outfitting of the computer labs, but they also put their skills and talents to work for the Kingdom in Mongolia.

CAMA Mongolia wants to say a heartfelt thank you to Jim and Denise (and Ellie!) and to the Evanston Alliance Church. Thank you for your partnership with us!
