Santa Rosa’s Mongolian Prayer Whirlwind

October 17th, 2008 · No Comments

There were probably times when the Santa Rosa prayer team felt like they were on a prayer sprint rather than a prayer walk! After a 12 hour delay in Beijing, they hit the ground running…and praying.

Following their orientation and a cultural experience at the Black Market, they began their prayer journey praying with the UB language students, the Wahlens and the Lees.

The next day they prayed over the city, top to bottom, one end to the other. They prayer walked the Gandhan monastery and then the ger district where we hope to see a church planted in the next couple of years before going to the Zaisan Monument overlooking the city where they prayed for the masses. From there it was on to our new Ministry Center housed in a small storefront in the University Belt of Ulaanbaatar (the UB of UB). By that time we were sure we had worn them out and so we fed them and sent them to bed.

The rest would be needed for their whirlwind tour of Darhan, Bulgan and Erdenet. The first stop was the Christian Leadership Training Center in Darhan where they met with the Therons and prayed for the training program as well as the new student ministries taking place there. They prayed also with Kirsten Hewitt for the MK school and students. They had a working dinner at the Chinese restaurant where they met and prayed for the language students in Darhan – Ali Dench, the Lains, Liberdas and Woods.

Thursday morning started with prayer not only for the clean water project at the well outside the Field’s home, but also praying that Jesus would send Living Water to the community as Jeremy visits every man in the neighborhood in the coming weeks and months.

At the CAMA center they prayed for the expansion of the kingdom through the ministries of Nghia and An-hoa Pham through their work at the Clinic, with the Crafts project and for the vision for a soup kitchen and a nutrition class.

After lunch it was on the road again to Bulgan and the home of Jeremy and Renee Bergevin. As this is the westernmost point of CAMA Mongolia thus far, prayer was not just for the Bergevin family and Bulgan ministry, but for the future of expanding our reach to the western aimags.

The next morning we packed up again and backtracked to Erdenet. The Yims shared their vision not only for that city, but for the beginning church plants in all of the surrounding villages. On our way out of town Saturday we stopped in Jargalant, the location of the accident the Yims had two years previous. It was determined by all that it was not a car accident but a car placement since God miraculously kept His servants from harm and used it to open a door for a church plant there (check back later for more information on this).

Arriving back at the UB Guesthouse at 3:14, they were given a two hour break for shopping before dinner and a partnership meeting with the Andersons and Dennis Maves.

On behalf of the entire CAMA team, thank you for allowing us to wear you out for the work of the kingdom here in Mongolia. We thank God for every remembrance of all of our partners and especially those who pray. Thank you Santa Rosa Prayer Team for sacrificing to pray on-site with insight.
